These terms govern your use of BoatLaunch (boatlaunch.app). By using the service you agree to them.

What BoatLaunch is

BoatLaunch is a directory of boat ramps with weather and launch-condition guidance. The forecasts and launch verdicts are advisory only and can be wrong. Always check conditions in person before launching. You are responsible for your own safety and decisions; we are not liable for outcomes based on information in the app.

Data sources and attribution

Base ramp data comes from OpenStreetMap and is © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL). Weather comes from Stormglass, and map and satellite imagery from third-party providers, each under their own terms. You must preserve required attribution when you reuse data.

Your contributions

When you submit edits, photos, ramp details, or messages, you confirm you have the right to share them and you grant BoatLaunch a non-exclusive licence to display and distribute them within the service. We may review, edit, or remove contributions, and we may decline or revoke a ramp claim if we cannot verify it.

Claiming a ramp

Claiming a ramp as an operator requires a good-faith connection to it (owner, manager, club, or similar). We may ask for proof and may revoke operator status at any time. Operators are responsible for the accuracy of the details they publish and for their communication with boaters.

Acceptable use

No unlawful, harmful, abusive, or fraudulent activity.
No spam, harassment, or misuse of the messaging features.
No automated scraping or bulk extraction beyond the public data licences above.
Keep your account credentials secure; you are responsible for activity under your account.

Disclaimer and liability

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, BoatLaunch is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from reliance on forecasts, ramp data, or operator communications.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. (Confirm or change this with your own counsel.)
